Next BPS Meeting April 18, 2013

Chapter Presentation #2: We have another opportunity impact our community by sharing God's Grand Story with ESL students on April 21st at Village Seven Presbyterian Church on (4040 Nonchalant Cir S, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80917). We’ll meet in Leonard Hall in room 18. Please plan to arrive at 5:30 so we can look at the facility and run through the presentation. Afterwards we have been invited to play with the students in the gym and have cake! Platform attire will be white collared shirts and dark pants. Please let me know ASAP if you will not be able to be there.

Important Dates:

Partnering to Equip: April 30 is the deadline to donate to ICC to receive matching funds. Every dollar donated will be matched up to $15,000 dollars. Go to ICCinc.org, select “Support ICC” tab and complete your information. Checks and credit card are accepted.

Year End Showcase: Sunday, May 12th , 6:30 – 8:00pm at Springs Community Church. Invite friends, family and neighbors as we celebrate the successes of our Chapter year. Choose one of your favorite presentations and practice it well so you can present it during our program. Certificates will be handed out for those who completed all eight of their BPS speeches.

Chapter Reporting: May 15 ends our chapter year so we will be submitting our final report. Be sure to record your community platform on our Platform Reporting Form so they can be recorded.

            NOTE: If you have presented a speech at any of our Chapter Dinners, you may record that as a platform!! These are all the dates of our dinners and the speeches that were completed at each to help you remember.

            October 18 – Informative Speaking

            November 15 – Joke (Humorous Interpretation)

            February 28 – Current Event

            April 4 - Interpretation

 Registration for next year: Take advantage of the early bird registration period (ends June 15) by completing the registration form Mrs. Hagood will send out and giving your fees to Ruthie Marquez. (Please note there is no sibling discount.)

ICC Membership Fees:

            6-10 yrs         $25 per student – (no early bird discount for BPS)

            11-18yrs        $30 per student – early bird

                                    $50 per student

Chapter Fees:

            $30 per family

Beginning Public Speaking Homework (BPS) ages 6-10yrs

1.  Continue to practice your Scripture verses for God’s Grand Story.

2.  Have fun preparing your persuasive speech using the information on page 56. You can find age specific instructions in BPS Homework under “Resources”. We will be hearing initial presentations this weeks so you can get feedback to make improvements for your final presentation on May 2nd.

3.  If you have missed any of the previous speeches you can also give those this week and next to complete the BPS Challenge (presenting all 8 types of speeches in the BPS book.) If you have questions about what ones you have completed, please me. 

Young Speakers Guild Homework (YSG) ages 11-18yrs

1. Continue going over your lines for God’s Grand Story. We will be practicing again for the next two meeting so we are sharp for our presentation on April 21. Please let Mrs. Hagood know ASAP if you will not be able to participate.

2.  Work on your Favorite Bible Verse or Storytelling Presentation and make a deadline to give it in chapter!

3. Complete pages 21 – 25 in Activity #1. Look for opportunities to practice your limited preparation skills in conversation this week and record them on page 28. We will continue to practice Limited Prep during small group the next few weeks so look over the Limited Prep Topics from the ICC website.

4.  Complete pages 58-59, 62-63 in Activity #2. Be looking for opportunities in the community to use your new skills and record them on page 61. We will be practicing “Salesman Squabble” next week.
