Next All-Chapter Meeting December 5

You can find our chapter schedule under “General Information”.

Chapter Presentation

Mark your calendars for the morning of April 12th when our whole chapter will present God’s Grand Story and other interpretations to Women of Grace, a ministry of Springs Community Church to single mothers and their children.

Tournament Practice – Something for everyone!

YSG students can practice and get outside feedback on any of their YSG presentations and limited prep.

Moms and dads can provide written feedback to YSG students.

BPS students can be timers in the presentation rooms.

December 14, 8:00 am – 2:00 pm at Front Range Alliance Church.

Cost is $15 each (pay to ICC Mt. Area at the door).

Register here: Pikes Peak Area Tournament Practice

Bring a lunch and water bottle and snack to share. We’ll have a great time practicing and getting to know parents and students from other chapters. This is also a great opportunity to see what other students are preparing to take to the community.

 Christmas Party/Showcase

Dec 12 is our last meeting before our Christmas break. Invite family and friends from 5:30 – 6:30 as we share the presentations we’ve been working on and enjoy snacks. (Each family should plan to bring a snack to share – healthy, sweet or savory.)

Would anyone like to volunteer to organize and set up the snack table?

 Parent Volunteer Opportunities

There are still opportunities available to support our chapter. Look over the list under Just for Parents > Parent Volunteers. Some are ongoing while others are just periodic. Take a look and prayerfully consider how the Lord has equipped you and may be calling you to serve. Please contact Yvonne or Ruthie if you would like to volunteer or want more information.

Christmas Stroll Platform

Our chapter will be strolling the streets Dec 21 from 2-3pm in Old Colorado City, presenting a choral reading with popcorn quotes and Christmas memories. See more detail in Platforms > Platform Opportunities. Contact Yvonne Hagood to sign up.

Beginning Public Speaking Homework (BPS) ages 6-10yrs

1.  Practice reading or reciting your presentation using projection. Practice how you would need to project in a small room, in a large room, or outside. Remember, you don’t want to scream to be louder. That will hurt your audiences’ ears. Project using your diaphragm (tummy muscles).

2.  Memorize Phil 2:3-4 using the sign language and hand gestures Kimberly taught during chapter.

3.  Review the most important public speaking skills on page 13 (or 15). Answers can be found in “Resources” under “BPS Workbook Answers.”

4.  Don’t forget to look for opportunities in the community to share your presentations.

Young Speakers Guild Homework (YSG) ages 11-18yrs

1. Work on the YSG goals you set during chapter.

2.  Be thinking about what presentations you want to bring to the Tournament Practice – Hello My Name Is, Favorite Bible Verse, Interpretation. Everyone should be also sign up for Limited Preparation.

3.  Review pages 1-2 of God’s Grand Story and read through the corresponding scriptures listed in the back of the book.
