Next All-Chapter Meeting October 10

You can find our chapter schedule under “General Information”.

First Chapter Dinner

October 10 will be our first Chapter Dinner immediately following our chapter meeting at 6:30. Each family is to bring their own table service and a main dish to share. In addition, those with last names ending in A – Ma are to bring a side dish or salad. Me – Z are to bring a dessert. Drinks will be provided.

Record those platforms!

If your students have used their public speaking skills since May 16, 2014, please record them on our Platform Reporting Form. There are many opportunities besides presentations prepared in chapter. Reciting Bible verses or leading Bible studies, speaking or leading at Scout Groups, Heritage Girls, 4-H, etc.,  greeting people for special events and reading aloud to others are all ways you are using public speaking skills. Be sure to record these. You can find more information on the Platform Reporting Form.

Registration Open for Ignite Winter Advance

Held in the beautiful hills of Tennessee on the lake at Cedine Camp, January 16-20, is the ICC national training event that kicks off the tournament season. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet ICC families from around the country and experience the camaraderie and unity of like-minded Christians in a more relaxed atmosphere. This event is only for students 11+yrs.

Super Early Bird deadline is October 30. Early Bird Deadline is November 30.

You can find more complete information on the ICC website: ICCinc.org

Chapter SHINE is a team…

To keep the workload manageable and allow our chapter to run more effectively, there are opportunities for parents to assist with chapter responsibilities. Think of how the Lord has gifted you and consider the following roles:

- Chapter Dinners Coordinator

- Christmas Showcase and Year End Hospitality

- Treasurer and Registration (Thank you Ruthie Marquez!)

- Chapter Recording

- BPS Oversight

- YSG Presentation Mentor

I am working on a more comprehensive description of each role and will be talking more in depth about them as time goes on.

Beginning Public Speaking Homework (BPS) ages 6-10yrs

1.  Memorize Phil 2:3-4 using the sign language and hand gestures Kimberly taught during chapter. You can find a video under “Look and See” to help.

2.  Review the 3 second rule on page 10 in the BPS book. Answers can be found in “Resources” under “BPS Workbook Answers.”

3.  Be thinking about a Thanksgiving or Christmas poem or funny story that will be our first presentation.

Young Speakers Guild Homework (YSG) ages 11-18yrs

1. Work on the YSG goals you set during chapter.

2.  Review pages 1-2 of God’s Grand Story and read through the corresponding scriptures listed in the back of the book.
