I appreciate your commitment to being at our first Coach Training Session - aka "Parent Meeting." It was great to see your enthusiasm and desire to train your students. It's great to be on the journey with you.

Please take a look at the Chapter Schedule (under General Information) and note the dates we have planned for potluck dinners after our meetings. This will be a time to get to know each other and see some of our exemplary Beginning Public Speaking (BPS) and Young Speakers Guild (YSG) presentations that students will be working on. We'll also have an opportunity to talk about the next presentation they will be working on. Details will be available as time approaches.

Beginning Public Speaking Homework (BPS) ages 6-10yrs
    1.  Review Speaker Responsibilities on page 7.

    2.  Practice the BPS Song. (See the video and words under Look and See.)

    3.  Memorize Phil 2:3 and be able to recite it next week.

    4.  Review SOAP handout and discuss it during the week. Is it on your frig yet?

    5.  Practice Five Foot Greetings:
When within 5 foot of another person, smile, make eye contact and clearly speak a greeting: "hello", "hi", "good morning", etc. This is different from the introduction we practiced last week when you are able to engage in a conversation.

Young Speakers Guild Homework (YSG) ages 11-18yrs
    1. Look over your new YSG book and set a goal for what you want to work on this week. Then go to the YSG I Tracking Log and add your colors. Remember to change the colors as you progress and have your parents add their own color when they review your work. If you need help, please call 719-659-0208 or email me yvonne.hagood@gmail.com. You will be able to find the YSG Tracking Log in Link under Resources if you forget. They're included here again also.

YSG I                     YSG II                   YSG III

    2.  Review introductions on page 10 of the new YSG and record the introductions you made last week on page 11. (Be sure to mark off those pages on the YSG I Tracking Log:)
If you have an old YSG I, record your introductions on notebook paper and place in your book.

    3.  Practice the Five Foot Greeting this week. (See notes in #5 of BPS Homework.) Be able to demonstrate both a proper introduction and greeting next week.
